Sew a pair of comfy wide-leg trousers that skim your figure for a flattering silhouette offering a classic shape with a modern twist. These versatile trousers can be made from a variety of different fabrics, making them perfect for any occasion and season. Join this one-day dressmaking workshop with Alison Leese, expert seamstress and owner of Ministry of Craft.
Using a fabric of your choice (see ‘What to Bring’), master essential dressmaking techniques as well as using one of our Janome overlockers for a professional finish to raw edges.
These trousers feature a flat front and high-waisted fit, with an elasticated back for added comfort. The panelled front legs add extra detail, while allowing for hidden practical pockets. Once you slip into these trousers, you’ll find them so comfortable and stylish that you won’t want to take them off and you’ll already be planning your next pair!

As this is not a beginner’s workshop, you must already have some experience on a sewing machine or have attended one of our Beginner sewing workshops.
You will need the following materials for your garment (all the equipment will be provided). For a more structured shape examples are – denim, cord, twill but nothing too heavy as it creates too much bulk at the back elasticated waist. For a softer silhouette – linen, chambray, poplin. Please avoid bulky, stretchy or slippery fabrics.
Tea and coffee will be available at the workshop and you are welcome to bring along your own refreshments. There will be a break to eat, so please bring along some lunch or you can pop out to a local shop.
Our sponsors, Janome, supply computerised sewing machines (5060 QDC) and where required overlockers (6234XL). Unfortunately, it is not possible to bring along your own machines.
