Patchwork Pouf

£80.00

Crafting a patchwork pouf not only adds a pop of colour to your living space, but it’s also a fantastic way to showcase your creativity.  Whether you’re a curious beginner or a seasoned stitcher, this is a fun and easy workshop led by Alison Leese, expert seamstress and owner of Ministry of Craft.

After cutting out your fabric sections (see ‘What to Bring’), learn how to thread a sewing machine, discover the secrets of seam guides and begin seaming your pouf sections together. With this under your belt you’ll be ready to take on a zip, then fill your pouf and use 2 buttons to create an optional tuft.

Not only have you got a gorgeous accessory to add to your home but something nice to sink your feet into after a long day.

If the date you require is sold out, contact us with the workshop name and date, so we can let you know if a place becomes available or when the new date goes on sale.

Our workshops are non-refundable and can only be changed to an alternative date with 14 days’ notice, so please make sure you’ve checked your diary carefully before booking. Please see our Refund and Cancellation Policy.

Beginner

This workshop is suitable for complete beginners or for those looking to refresh their skills.

You will need to bring the following to the workshop, if you want, you can purchase on the day from Bamber Sewing Machines and get 10% discount.

Finished Dimensions are 80 cm wide by 18 cm deep and the pouf is made up of 12 sections on each side (24 sections in total).

If you are using two fabrics i.e. 6 sections in each fabric in each side, you will need:

  • Fabric 1 – 1m (full width)
  • Fabric 2 – 1m (full width)

If you are using three fabrics i.e. 4 sections in each fabric in each side, you will need:

  • Fabric 1 – 0.5m (full width)
  • Fabric 2 – 0.5m (full width)
  • Fabric 3 – 0.5m (full width)

If you are using four fabrics i.e. 3 sections in each fabric in each side, you will need:

  • Fabric 1 – 0.5m (full width)
  • Fabric 2 – 0.5m (full width)
  • Fabric 3 – 0.5m (full width)
  • Fabric 4 – 0.5m (full width)

Please avoid bulky, stretchy or slippery fabrics; light to medium weight woven cotton is ideal. Similar fabrics sew together better compared with fabrics of different weights, textures and handle. Large fabrics designs are sometimes lost or cut off when cutting the sections so smaller designs and plain fabrics work better.

  • A 26cm (approximately) standard closed end zip (not a concealed/invisible one).
  • 2 kilos fibre filling/stuffing (you will find at Abakhan, Amazon, Ebay).
  • 2 large buttons.
  • Sewing thread.

Tea and coffee will be available at the workshop and you are welcome to bring along your own refreshments. There will be a break to eat, so please bring along some lunch or you can pop out to a local shop.

Our sponsors, Janome, supply computerised sewing machines (5060 QDC) and where required overlockers (6234XL). Unfortunately, it is not possible to bring along your own machines.
